Australian EV charging network operator Evie Networks has partnered with Swedish furniture giant Ikea to install two 150kW fast-charging bays at its Tempe store in Sydney’s Inner West.
Evie Networks, Australia’s largest ultrafast EV charging network, said the installation will pave the way for future collaboration between the two companies.
“We are excited to include IKEA in a growing public network that allows drivers to recharge where they shop, work and play,” said Geoff Brady, chief operating officer of Evie Networks.
“Making fast charging a seamless part of customers’ shopping experiences will help advance our mission to accelerate the adoption of EVs in Australia.
Ikea has been providing EV charging at some of its stores since 2019, but the new installations are the most powerful at any of its Australian stores.
“Offering flexible EV charging solutions for our customers to park, charge and shop with the charging duration that suits them is a great way we can do this,”said Alexandra Kelly, zero emissions delivery lead at Ikea Australia.
IKEA also has electric vehicles in its fleet, which are reducing the company’s environmental footprint, and has unveiled plans to use electric Tuk Tuks as well.
