A Skoda EV has been spotted in Sydney by an EV enthusiast. The car spotted is a blue Skoda Enyaq coupe and was seen in Zetland.

The sighting was first shared by EV enthusiast, Oliver M, on Facebook. It shows the blue Skoda Enyaq coupe parked in Sydney with large black and silver wheels.

This particular vehicle is a 2022 build and was first registered in May 2023 according to NSW transport department and is registered as an “engineering evaluation vehicle”.

It also has a tare weight of 2118 kg, which is heavier than Australia’s most popular electric SUV, the Tesla Model Y.

The sloping rear end also gives it a sleeker look given the size of the SUV and the design itself gives the coupe a co-efficient of drag at 0.234.

It is based on Volkswagen’s Modularer E-Antriebs Baukasten (MEB) platform which translates to modular electric-drive toolkit.

This is an all-EV platform shared by multiple Volkswagen, Skoda, Audi, Cupra and Seat vehicles, including the Enyaq.

In Europe, the Skoda Enyaq is very popular in a fast-developing EV market, and it’s also expected to do well if priced to sell volumes. Speaking of Europe, it’s received a 5-star rating in Euro NCAP testing which makes it one of the safer cars on the road.

Across the ditch in New Zealand, the Skoda Enyaq is available in three variants including the Sporline, Sportline Max and the sighted Coupe Sportline Max.

The Coupe Sportline Max variant has a range of 544 km. That’s thanks to an 82 kWh battery pack which charges up to 135 kW when connected to an appropriate DC fast changer.

It is powered by a 150 kW motor which can help it sprint from 0-100 km/h in 8.7 seconds.

Kiwis can buy the top-spec Coupe variant for $NZ102,990 and some of the key features it includes there are:

It’s good to see engineering evaluation vehicles finally being spotted in Australia which could mean that the popular premium 5-seater SUV may arrive for local customers in the next 12 months.

If that happens, it’d be the second all-electric offering after the Cupra Born which has finally picked up in deliveries. As of June 2023, the Cupra Born had 174 delivered vehicles across the country.

We look forward to tracking the progress of Enyaq’s potential launch locally as more EV options for drivers can only be a good thing for EV adoption.
